beautiful, sleek shoot. i'm glad she kind of outshined him, if i must say.
i usually cringe at all the exotic-foreign-woman-with-hunky-white-man kind of shoots. actually in this case, HE was the exotic forgeigner, haha. albeit kind of asian-looking. o_0

Wow, I love this shoot! They look so good together and I love the fact that she looks so confident and just a little smug in every picture with him. She's definitely the one in control. XD

She looks amazing but there is no real chemistry there which throws off the balance a bit.

^ Yeah, I'll say Su-pah - GREAT observation.

I know that to some Koreans or Asians having a white chick or dude on your arm may be an expression and source of status and personal pride - but to just as many it's a reminder of a neo-colonialist/racist dynamic of white male ownership of a woman of color.

Yes, the clothes are beautiful. Yes, both Josh Hartnett and Hye Park are attractive people. But the racialized symbolism behind this photoshoot (and many photoshoots involving Asian models, but particularly Asian female models with white male models) seems to smack of a colonial "stink".

Not a pretty picture - and we attempt to investigate the history behind this type of neo-colonialist sexual imagery in the modeling/advertising industry, and America/Western society in general.

Wow! That website Asian Male Revolutions is incredible... I never thought about the colonial implications of Asian women models with white male models. I'm not against interracial relationships and I don't get the website that your website is either - but you still make an EXCELLENT point, I'm bookmarking that website! Thanks and keep up the good work! www.asianmalerevolutions.com - I love it!

hmmm.. @amrevolutions i took a look at your website http://www.asianmalerevolutions.com and you guys have a lot of material on this stuff.. and it really makes me think, especially as asian american woman.

anyway, you have a point about how asian women are portrayed and how that reflects some type of internalized racism in asians..

pretty pictures,, but like you said it does have a colonial stink
