This is ridiculous!!! Gemma Ward does not need to be on the cover of India's Inaugural Vogue cover. She was also on the cover of China's with Du Juan. This is cultural imperialism at worst and just silly at best. On the cover of China Vogue her hair was flying in Du Juan's face, making her and not Du the centerpiece of the cover. There is not a problem with that per se, but we should ask ourselves WHY ms. Ward is needed. To see issues? To legitimate an enterprise?

I am afraid that India Vogue will become another obsession of mine, also...I love Gemma Ward I think she is on the cover to show more global side to fashion...that being said I wish there was a more global side to fashion in American Vogue...

It's interesting to note that the models are the ones without breasts where as the actresses are more endowed.

What the heck is with that alien?! She is old news. India models suppose to be on cover, not alien!

I like the cover and I agree with Stiletto Heights, maybe they want to show a global side to fashion. Although I also think that even without Gemma the cover would look amazing, because they are all very beautiful!

Btw, I can see my update nÂș 2! Maybe it was some kind of bug :(

Gemma is divine. just look at the spread/cover... only laxmi menon is in par with gemma ward. everyone butching here is just jealous. gemma is a down to earth supermodel... unlike the rest!

Don't get me wrong I adore Gemma, but doesn't really make sense why she's on the cover.

My god. Gemma Ward-- front and center? Cultural imperialism indeed. Gorgeous cover otherwise? Can there even be an "otherwise?"

This cover should win an award for originality!

The Chinese debut cover on the other hand is derivative.

Im indian and im not suprised gemma is on the cover indians are always begging to be white, skin lightening etc. Also india doesn't have great models, there's no such thing as an indian supermodel-ujjwala is finished and she was never naomi or kate she is not even liya kebede! outside the fashion industry no one's heard of ujjwala who where they going to put on the front cover? that boring ujjwala? the only stunning women that came out of india is aishwarya rai, there's plenty of indian girls that look like ujjwala and lakshmi you won't find many girls that look like aishwarya, she has a unique face. Just like there's loads of girls that look like tyra banks but you won't find many girls that look like naomi campbell. I am not saying ujjwala and lakshi are rubbish I am saying there nothing different they can be replaced. The next issue should have chanel iman or coco rocha on the cover, there hot!

I think that this Vogue cover looks great!!! They're all really beautiful except I think that both Lakshmi Menon and Monikangana Dutta look kinda weird!!!

I like Gemma Ward...I think she suites the cover.

Athough I still think that Aishwarya Rai is the most beautiful out of all of them. She's asolutely gorgeous and natural!!!

I agree. Gemma is beautiful, but she is not needed on this cover. VOGUE India should showcase only their beautiful women on their covers..at least for the firest few years. I think they should use Anchal of America's Next Tio Model.

Jemma is great and all, but I don't understand why she seems to be the center focus of this cover. I agree with Anonymous (top). Why is it that in these Vogues (such as China and India) you see her or some other Caucasian woman. Nothing against caucasian models. If you can model you can model, it has nothing to do with skin color. I feel like nations should be able to promote their own beauty standards instead of being subjected to that of others.
