Despite the errors listed above, this was actually a very well written article - probably the best I've read on the recent phenomenon of Asian models in fashion. It accurately described the internal racism that still occurs for Asian models in the Asian markets. It also discussed the differences between the ideals of Western vs. Asian beauties and what the western brands need to do to succeed in the east.

Even u have trouble telling them apart so you cant talk!
ReplyDeleteLv Yan is correct. In Chinese spelling, her last name Lu is actually a "u" with 2 dots over it, which can be substituted with a v.
ReplyDeleteLol at the errors (it seems Westerner do that all the time even with other artists like ballerina). Anyway, I don't think there is anything wrong with "Lv" in Lv Yan though. Chinese input it in the pinyin system, since the u with two dots on top ΓΌ are not found on keyboard/used in English.
ReplyDeleteit's unfortunate that they let these errors distract readers from the great content of the article. but seriously, it's like, really? come on now...
ReplyDeletei dont know if i would call it racism, but more like prejudices
