It's rare to see a new MALE Asian model debut on the runway of New York Fashion Week. But this season, three fresh faces emerged on the scene and I'm totally psyched about it.
First, there is Tony Thornburg from Fusion Model Management.
He is of Japanese/Norwegian/Swedish descent and hails from Hawaii.
Next is Zhao Lei from China who is rep-ed with Wilhelmina Models. He was one of the stars in last year's (Spring/Summer 2010) Prada ad campaign and the accompanying video project, First Spring by Wang Fudong.
Finally, there is Jae Yoo from South Korea. There isn't much information about him except that he is represented by Major Model Management.

Eww Zhao Lei not pretty
ReplyDeleteDaiasuke and Philip Liu are great tho
I like Daniel Liu and Daisuke.
ReplyDeleteyes agree! go to models.com and look at the zhao lei guy... hes so mediocre (close to plain or ugg) looking how the hell did someone decides that he makes a good model??? there are more tall better looking guys in asia! its not like female models, it is harder to find tall asian women so they end up with really unattractive ones...
ReplyDeletehowever, tony is really goodlooking... thats cuz hes not full blown asian and mixed are always better
hmm i think it's hard to say. i've seen some pictures where zhao lei looks decent and some not. and the same goes for jae joo and daisuke.
ReplyDeletezhao lei looks nice in that prada campaign plus he's with Wilhelmina
ReplyDeletei think we will just have to wait and see for all three of these guys
theres not much info/campaigns/pics yet so it is kind of hard to judge
no thanks on Zhao Lei
ReplyDeleteYou should post about Eryck Laframboise, whose star is continuing to rise. He's half Thai.
ReplyDeleteI have to say Zhao is SO much better looking on video, I can actually see how he's a model rather than just looking at him in pictures. He's not very photogenic.

ReplyDeletehey sporath,
ReplyDeletei think you are very mixed up. tao isnt doing shows in london. she went straight to milan.
this is very good for you, ybg :)
ReplyDeletethe picture of Zhao Lei that was posted doesn't do him justice. Actually he is unbelievably handsome. He is a very very good looking guy and has more of a high end, model look than Philip Huang and Daniel Liu.
ReplyDeleteSen Mitsuji is drop dead gorgeous. He's half Japanese, half Australian
