Anna Wang has been the face of Maybelline in the Asian market for a couple of years now. She has also appeared in a couple of TV commercials with other (Maybelline) girls for the brand around the world.
However, if I'm not mistaken, this is the first time Anna Wang is featured alone in a full-page print ad for Maybelline in US market.

pretty but she doesnt look asian ..so..that is probably why it was easier for her to 'cross' over, although, U.S. prints haven't been too bad at diversity.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I always thought Anna Wang was suspiciously western looking but I am a fan. good for her.
ReplyDeletei don't like her. Shes looks soo commonplace and there are way better asian faces for cosmetics.
ReplyDeleteI love the overall composition of the ad!!
ReplyDeletewhy was she made to look so caucasian? Maybelline shouldn't have transformed her; they should just accept that her natural look is asian.
anne wang first came into the modeling scene in china because of her western features. it's actually good/admirable to have western facial features in china. i first saw her on the cover of HK Elle and the interview inside explained that her facial features were what separated her from other asian models. i think she looks the same as any of her photos.
ReplyDeleteI don't think she was made to be look western she has big eyes and not too flat a nose, that doesn't mean she looks Western, because asians can have those features. She's stunningly beautiful nonetheless.
